Knowing More About Tanning Bed Bulbs

Do you own a tanning bed? If you do, it would benefit you much if you know how the device works and what its customer replaceable parts are. Once you are familiar with your tanning bed, minor jobs and repairs, like replacing tanning bed bulbs would be a walk in the park for you. You won’t need to contact somebody to do the replacement. And that would save you a lot of time and money in the process.

Tanning beds are equipped with tanning bed bulbs. These bulbs are what make your skin tan and beautiful. These bulbs produce the ultraviolet light that your skin requires to trigger melanin production, the pigment that gives your skin a darker tone. There are many kinds of tanning lights available in the market today. But there are two general groups of these lights - the low pressure bulbs and the high pressure bulbs.

Tanning bed bulbs look like a fluorescent bulb. They are low heat bulbs that are perfect for indoor tanning purposes. The size of these bulbs is usually 71 to 73 inches in length. Rarely would you find bulbs that are longer, but you may encounter one or two from time to time. So if your tanning bed bulb falls in the 74 to 75 inches category, you might find it hard to get the right replacement for them. For cases like this, you would have no other option but to call the manufacturer and order from them directly.

As for connectors, there are RDC and bi-pin end connectors. Between the two, you are more likely to see tanning bed bulbs with the bi-pin connector. The RDC connectors are rarely used because they are very expensive. If these are the connectors that your bulb has, expect for its price to hit the roof when you’re looking for replacement. You might also find it hard to look for these bulbs.

You should maintain your tanning bed and its bulbs all the time by frequently checking on them. You need to do this especially if you own a tanning salon. It would be for the good of your business. On the other hand, if you merely use your tanning bed for personal use, it also pays to learn more about it so you can easily fix it and replace the parts without depending on somebody else all the time.
