Tanning Bed Bulbs and How to Replace Them



If you own a tanning bed, you must be concerned with the tanning bed bulbs that the bed is equipped with, more than anything. Tanning beds depend on its bulbs for functionality. So if you want to maintain the perfect condition of your bed, you have to make sure that every bulb it has is working 100 percent.

Tanning bed bulbs have life expectancy. You can’t expect these bulbs to work forever. It would burn out sooner or later so you have to be sure that you know how to replace them when that happens. Ideally, you should have a spare with you all the time so that the tanning bed will always be in full operation.

The first thing you have to know when buying tanning beds is the life span of its bulbs, how to get them replaced, and what type of bulbs they use. Once you know this important information, you should be able to maintain your tanning bed on your own. Otherwise, you will be forced to call the customer service hotline of your tanning bed’s manufacturer and ask for their representatives to replace the burnt out bulbs for you.

But that practice is going to cost you a lot. If you want to save in the replacement of your bulb, you have to know everything about the bulb your tanning bed has. Home tanning bed bulbs are usually equipped with the regular 100-watt F71 bulb. Over the internet and from local retailers, these bulbs cost a mere $10. However, for you to be totally sure of the bulbs you’re buying, try to bring the broken bulb with you to the store. The attendant should be able to get a perfect match for you, or at least a good replacement for it.

If you can’t possibly take the bulb out yourself or you forgot to bring it with you as you shop, you should at least know how long the bulb you need is. It is going to be anywhere from 71 to 73 inches. You have to know which one works for you. You should also be familiar with the number of watts and the type of connector the bulb has. There are two types of connectors, the RDC and the bi-pin. Know which one your tanning bed bulbs use. As for wattage, these bulbs usually start on an 80-watt power to 160 watts or higher. Get the right wattage for optimum tanning results.
